3D Heads-Up Display (3D HUD) was a concept that Toyota motor corporation created. This concept and technology were developed for decreasing stress on the driver’s eyes ergonomically by laying out all the necessary information on the windshield in 3D. It decreases physical stress on the driver’s eyes by letting them keep their attention on the road without switching their focus between near and far.

Institute for Creative Integration teamed up with Toyota engineers and Toyota’s Calty Design Research. Together, we created a working 3D HUD prototype to showcase the technology.

I did

  • create a system flowchart.
  • design and develop 3D animated graphic assets and the steering wheel UI which were implemented in the working prototype.
  • created animation assets for a concept video.

See project details and the concept video at Institute for Creative Integration’s website.
